Something Special at the Artisan Cup - FSA Update

If the aroma of freshly baked bread products is not enough to whet your appetite, there is a special treat for everyone coming to view the action of the 5th Annual Australian Artisan Cup at the FSA Expo 2011.

On Tuesday 21st June a team of internationally recognised bakers and pastry chefs will be hosting demonstrations and tastings of traditional and innovative products in the competition arena. We are pleased to announce the special guest appearances of renowned Italian bakers and patissieres:
o Pierpaolo Genghini: a baker specialising in traditional Italian bread, pizza and focaccia,
o Ivanna Barbieri: a chef who specialises in the field of gastronomic pastries for bakery, and;
o Paolo Fulgente: a Master in artistic bread.
The feature Artisan Cup event is two days of intense competition on June 19 and 20.  The eight, three man teams will not only be competing for the title of Australia's leading bakers and patissieres, but also for places on Team Bakery Australia to compete against the rest of the world at SIGEP International Bread Cup, January 2012.

Artisan Cup categories include Artisan Bread Products; baguette, ciabatta and sourdough styles. Artisan Viennoiserie/Sweet Yeast goods including croissants, Danish pastry, brioche and competitors choice and the Artistic Bread Centrepiece which is to have an Australiana theme.

Competitors will be using state of the art equipment provided by Vanrooy a key figure in the baking industry, as they continue to demonstrate and celebrate the strength of food quality, trade professionalism and the art of international artisan baking here in Australia.

The Artisan Cup is proudly driven by Leading Edge Bakery & Food Service Journal, the industry magazine and enthusiastically supported by leading industry suppliers GWF Foodservice, Vanrooy Machinery, Laucke Flour Mills, Callebaut Chocolate, Kirk Foods - Corman Butter, Maxwell Williams, IBE and Kwik Lok Fasteners, along with the BRI (Better Research & Innovation) of the Grain Growers Association.
