kirkfood tipping - The Final Countdown 2010

This is it! The time draws nigh. As Mark (outright 1^st  by 1 point), Graeme (outright 2^nd   by 2 points) and Ken (outright 3^rd by 2 points) prepare themselves for what will be a 'rip snorter' to close out the kirkfood tipping season 2010. And what a cracker of a round to finish up with! The toughies will be  Freo v Carlton,  The dogs v the bombers and The Tiges v Power, infact, with the exception of The Cats v The eagles, they all have an element of danger for any leading tippers this round. As I've said in years past, strategy will be the key to maximising the cash pay out...

As usual, I went 'inside 50' style to see what goes on in the mind of the tipping elite. See below interview with Mark, Graeme and Ken.

Matty: For the other tipsters, do you mind me asking... Who are you? & what do you do?

Graeme: I am Graeme and I work in the toilet paper, tampon and nappy industry...many have said the ideal job for me dealing as it does in shit and excretions!

Matty: How many years with kirkfood tipping ?

Graeme: ONE AND THE STRESS MIGHT SEE ME OUT AT ONE.

Matty: Which team you'd least like to win the flag and why?

Graeme: COLLINGWOOD, FOOTSCRAY, CARLTON OR HAWTHORN BECAUSE I HATE THEM ALL...BUT COLLINGWOOD TO LOOSE THE GF BY A POINT WOULD CAP OFF A STELLAR SEASON FOR ME (A (VICTORIA) BITTER BOMBER)

Matty: Which team for the flag this year and why?

Graeme: GEELONG OR SAINTS, BUT COULD BE BLOODY COLLINGWOOD, BUT HOPEFULLY THEY GET THE WOBBLES IN FRONT OF GOAL...ONLY THREE TEAMS WITH A REAL CHANCE, THOUGH WOULD LOVE TO SEE SYDNEY DO WELL FOR ROOSY AND THE MONK

Matty: Bunnings, Dans or a new beer fridge for the shed to spend the cash? 

Graeme: SOME ON THE BAR AT THE MIGHTY ME COUNTRY CLUB TO HELP NUMB BIG JACK'S BULLS...COULD NOW BE SOME INTEREST IN BEING ON MY TABLE, EH LADS!

Matty: You reckon the trouble and strife will be holding her hand out for some fold?

Graeme: DOESN'T EVEN KNOW I'M A MEMBER OF THE ME CC, LET ALONE THE TIPPING COMP PRIZES, WHICH I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND MYSELF...BEST NOT TO CONFUSE HER...WILL HAVE MORE TROUBLE KEEPING THE CASH AWAY FROM HUGHIE

Graeme: FRIDAY ARVO I'M LIKE SCOTT BEFORE THE CATS RUN OUT ON GF DAY, NEEDING TO GET TO THE ME CC FOR A FEW NERVE SETTLERS (NOT THAT ANY OF YOU BLOKES ARE EVER THERE - HAVING MADE THE MISTAKE OF TELLING THE TROUBLE AND STRIFE ABOUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP OF THAT CELUBRIOUS ESTABLISHMENT); MONDAY MORNING I'M TOO NERVOUS TO LOG ON SO CAN'T START WORK ON THE SHIT AND NAPPIES TILL AT LEAST WEDNESDAY - WORRIED THAT BLOODY MARK WILL HAVE GOT THE BONUS POINT!

Matty: Any other tipping comps you'll clean up in this year?

Graeme: NO, A SECOND ONE WOULD SEE ME HAVE A CORONARY OCCLUSION

Matty: How intense is the research before placing your tips each week?

Graeme: I TALK TO THE PRETTY BLONDE IN THE OFFICE, EXTENSIVELY IF SHE IS WEARING A LOW CUT TOP, OTHERWISE LOOK AT THE TEAMS IN THE PAPER AND START TOSSING A COIN - WHEREVER POSSIBLE TAKE THE OPPOSITE TO HUGHIE, WHO RECKONS HE KNOWS ALL THERE IS ABOUT FOOTY...HEY, CHECK OUT THE TIPPING LADDER, PUNK

Matty: Lastly, will you be back for more kirkfood tipping action in 2011?

Graeme: I DOUBT IT, I WILL BE RECOVERING AT THE STRESS FARM (OR ALTERNATIVELY AT THE ME CC).

SERIOUSLY, MARK AND KEN AND THE REST OF THE TOP TEN REALLY KNOW THEIR AFL, - OUR TIPS TOTALS ARE WELL AHEAD OF THE SO-CALLED SUN AND AGE 'EXPERTS' EVEN ALLOWING FOR DRAWS AND BONUS POINTS.  SO WELL DONE TEAM, AND THANKS KIRKS FOR A LOT OF FUN?!?!  BY THE WAY, HOW MUCH IS LAST PLACE, MATTY?? SEEMS THE EASY WAY OUT, MIGHT GO FOR THAT NEXT YEAR (THOUGH SHOULDN'T IT TAKE AS MUCH SKILL TO TIP 8 LOOSERS?)

Ken Ure (currently ranked 3^rd)

Matty: For the other tipsters, do you mind me asking... Who are you? & what do you do?

Ken: Operations Manager for Apromo Trading in Sydney, Sounds grand but just means I get to do all the jobs that are too hard for the other buggers.

Matty: How many years with kirkfood tipping ?

Ken: Four or five, at my age after living through and surviving the hedonistic sixties  being able to remember your own name is a bonus

Matty: Which team you'd least like to win the flag and why?

Ken: Now Choco has given it away I'm not too fussed.

Matty: Which team for the flag this year and why?

Ken: Too close to call, Collingwood and Geelong are a class apart from everyone else. Even Roosey thinks so.

Matty: Bunnings, Dans or a new beer fridge for the shed to spend the cash?

Ken: I'm married. My wife can smell spare cash at a 1000 metres facing a sewage upwind

Ken: Friday arvo. A read made excuse for a weekend of Boags premium and Benson and Hedges classic

Ken: Hard enough trying to make a showing in Kirks' comp.

Matty: How intense is the research before placing your tips each week?

Ken: Look at the tips from Robert Walls and Tony Shaw and steer well clear.

Matty: Lastly, will you be back for more kirkfood tipping action in 2011?

Ken: Are the Kennedys gun shy.

Mark Brennan (currently ranked 1^st)

Matty: Who are you? & what do you do?

Mark: born and bred in Adelaide, moved to Sydney in 2000.  Work for the Big "T" and have been for the past 10 years - initially as a bean counter within the finance team and then crossed the floor to Operations 5 years ago.

Matty: How many years with kirkfood tipping ?

Mark: I think this would be my 5th season

Matty: Which team you'd least like to win the flag and why?

Mark: Collingwood...because they get all the favours in the draw (i.e. 18 home games) and still can't win a premiership...and to continue Eddie's nightmare.

Matty: Which team for the flag this year and why?

Mark: anyone but Collingwood.

Matty: Bunnings, Dans or a new beer fridge for the shed to spend the cash?

Mark: have my eyes on a Vintec wine fridge and intend to pay Andrew a visit to pick-up some imported fine foods to enjoy with the wine

Matty: You reckon the trouble and strife will be holding her hand out for some fold?

Mark: no doubt, but there will be no handbag and matching shoes coming her way.
