Irish Cheeses now in stock

Kirkfood has been importing specialty Irish Blue cheese from Jane and Louis Grubb for several years now, and our most recent shipment has arrived in Melbourne and has been cleared and released by AQIS.

Cashel Blue from County Tipperary, is one of Irelands most famous Farmhouse Cheeses.  Louis and Jane produce their own milk for Cashel blue from a milking heard of Holstein Friesian dairy cows, and Louis is meticulous in his selection of pedigree cows to obtain the highest quality milk possible.  This award winning cow milk blue vein cheese is well suited for using in salads, tart and quiche dishes and presents very well on cheeseboards.  It has a punchy lactic zing when young then develops lovely rich complex salty-caramel flavours with age.

The younger sibling Crozier Blue is a more recent addition to the range but still shines.  One of our all time favourites, Crozier Blue is a sheep milk blue vein cheese that has a perfect harmony between subtle lanolin sheep milk flavours and balanced salty blue vein tones.   Gold Medal winner at  the British Cheese Awards.
