Condiments and sauces such as relish, jam, pickles, mustards, mayonaise or seasonings such as salt and pepper are foods added to other foods to impart flavour, texture and colour usually to compliment or enhance the food or dish. Often strong or pungent in flavour and/or aroma, they are usually used in small quantities. They can be applied to the food by the diner at the table, but are also often used in cooking as well.
