Black Truffles - Would you like to hunt your own?

Date: 01-May-2009 News Blog

Perigord Truffles or Black Truffles - Highly prized and now being successfully cultivated in Tasmania, Victoria New South Wales, and the ACT are in season. At Manjimup in Western Australia, The Wine and Truffle Company - the biggest and highest yielding Trufferie in Australia, are inviting you to hunt for your own. For me, it would be the ultimate, weekend, food enthusiasts indulgence.

Click here to go to the Wine and Truffle Company website offer.

The truffles at The Wine and Truffle Co. are located by our well-trained dogs and our experienced truffle hunters. The Dogs are able to sense truffles growing 30cm beneath the earth and a good truffle dog can locate a truffle with pin point accuracy from 50 meters away.

All visitors are now able to experience this European phenomenon in Australia by booking our unique, specially arranged truffle hunt package in our productive trufferie. So with some luck and persistence, you can experience the exhilaration of finding the gourmet French black truffle and smelling its pungent and unique perfume fresh out of the ground. You can also experience the mystical and tantalising flavours of this gourmet delicacy at our on site cafe, by booking in for lunch.

Please note that lunch is optional and does not form part of the package.
